Spreading Sunshine Update AND Submit Nominations for next round!

I’m quite delayed in sharing with you what we did for our last round of Spreading Sunshine.  Been a little busy lately opening a studio. 🙂

Anyway, I just wanted to give you an update since it’s almost time to do it again!  We chose 2 people to surprise this last month and both are in central Illinois, one being right here in Mahomet.

Both of these women are having health issues and could use some sunshine.  One woman would visit her sister in Alabama if her health is good this summer so we gave a $50 gas gift card to help her get started on that road trip to go spend time with her family.  Another woman still has kids at home and I figured they would appreciate some new family pictures when she’s feeling better.  So I gave her a gift certificate for a free photo session that can be used when she’s healthier.

Spreading sunshine doesn’t have to cost a dime.    This morning, I took Joey out to breakfast and while there an older gentleman who was by himself sitting a couple booths away struck up conversation with us.  He is a truck driver and spends many days on the road at a time and enjoyed sharing his love for fishing with us and asking Joey about himself.  The gift of conversation can be very appreciated and it certainly seemed like it was by this man. 🙂  So find ways to spread sunshine, you never know when you will make someone’s day!

NOW….. it’s time to spread some more sunshine.  Do you know someone who could use some?!?

Some days, all we need to help get through a rough day or season, is knowing that someone is thinking of us. Someone cares for us.  Someone is praying for us.  Someone loves us.

So comment below that you emailed me (heather@sweetlemonadelife.com) so I know to look for your message.  I don’t want any getting lost in the shuffle.  Then if I choose to spread sunshine to the person/family you shared about, I’ll contact you to get details for the person so we can be a bright spot to their day.

Sweetly,

Heather

  1. This story struck two special cords in my lif’s music. I love that Joey and you gave that trucker the gift of friendly conversation. I know how much it means to them when others talk to them and treat them like normal human beings. All of the truckers in my life dress in uniforms and they are not scuzzy, poor, white trash. We have all encountered people who don’t know us or our family business, and it’s sad how lowly some people think of truck drivers. Six days on the road and I’m a gonna make it home tonight, around 2am and curl up next to my wife for 3 hours and back on the road. Now, I know due to technology truckers can’t cheat as easily on their log books today, We normally got to see my dad two days a week and I know he missed us and our mom. Sometimes just talking to someone, even if it’s about something entirely different, is “chicken soup for soul”. Your one amazing lady raisining a trio of great young men.
